A SWAT team investigated a home in Lawrence on Sunday.
According to KMBC, four officers with guns drawn went into a home in the 600 block of West 27th Street. Sergeant Myron Grady of the Lawrence Police Department said the unit went to the home in search of someone wanted for questioning in a case out of Topeka. He said the person was taken into custody without incident. No additional information was available. The streets in the area were later reopened.
Sergeant Trent McKinley with the Lawrence Police Department confirmed to Kansas First News in an e-mail Sunday that they assisted the Topeka Police Department in serving a warrant in Lawrence early Sunday morning. McKinley said that because it was a high risk warrant they utilized their tactical team, and the warrant was served without incident.
The Topeka Police Department has not responded to questions on what the case was. Lieutenant John Sturgeon told Kansas First News that they will send out a release at some point Sunday.
