Kids are learning the importance of farm safety to prevent accidents.
The Hazardous Occupations Safety Training in Agriculture Course is being held in Wamego. The course is meant to educate kids 12 and older.
They learn to operate a tractor, drive an ATV and work with livestock.
“We try to give them training to make them safe and that’s our goal is to keep them safe and where they do not make a mistake that they lose a limb or a life.” said Kansas State University Research & Extension Agent Leroy Russell.
The course lasts two days and if they pass the course they can legally work on a farm other than their parents.
