June 6, 2014 (Topeka, Kan.)- Visit Topeka Inc. and The Topeka Shawnee County Sports Council announced the candidates for the 10th annual Sports Awards banquet at 10 a.m. in the Marvin Auditorium of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.
The Sports Awards Banquet and The Hall of Fame induction will take place June 26, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at The Ramada Hotel and Convention Center. A silent auction will be held to benefit the Sports Awards Banquet.
Each year, the Topeka Shawnee County Sports Council recognizes area athletes with awards in 10 categories including outstanding male and female athlete in fall, winter, and spring sports, most inspirational male and female, and most outstanding male and female athlete overall. Student athletes must be a senior in high school, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and must have demonstrated excellence in sports during the 2013-2014 school year.
For the past 9 years, The Topeka Shawnee County Council has also held a Hall of Fame induction at the banquet. The Hall of Fame honors past area athletes that made an impact on the Topeka community through their sport.
2014 Hall of Fame inductees are Kisa Carey, Ed Delk, and C.J. Hamilton.
