‘Topeka Gives’ raises more than $273K in June

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) The totals are in for a fundraising effort for Topeka charities from the beginning of this month.

On Tuesday, the Topeka Community Foundation announced that Topeka Gives raised more than $273,000 from donations.

The foundation is matching 35 thousand dollars…bringing the grand total to go to charities to more than 308 thousand which is more than one and half times the amount raised last year.

On average each of the 860 donors gave $146.

The Topeka Community Foundation designed the day to be a fun day of giving.

“It gave donors a chance to learn about organizations,” says Marsha Pope from the Topeka Community Foundation. “It gave organizations a opportunity to share the information about the great work they do in our community and we were very excited about this number but we were even more excited about the great connections that were made here that day.”

Family Service and Guidance Center received the most money while the Topeka Rescue Mission came in second and Topeka Young Life third.

The Rescue Mission however did have the highest number of donors, followed by the Marian Clinic and the Helping Hands Humane Society.
