The Kansas Department of Transportation reports that shortly after eight Wednesday morning, a Semi Tractor-trailer lost control and went off the highway within the work zone on I-70 near the Jeep Road Interchange in Dickinson County. A damaged guardrail has been removed and traffic is currently moving head to head at a reduced rate of speed through the area.

A wrecker is now on the scene and plans call for traffic to be detoured during the time needed for the wrecker to remove the semi from the area. During that time eastbound traffic will be taken of I-70 at the Abilene Interchange then north on K-15 to K-18 then east to US-77 then south on US-77 to rejoin I-70. Westbound traffic will continue to travel west on the eastbound passing lane during the recovery of the semi.

Once the wrecker has removed the semi and left the area all traffic will be restored to head to head throughout the work zone at 65 mph.
