2-year-old Topeka drowning victim identified

SHAWNEE COUNTY, Kan. (KSNT) – Shawnee County Sheriff’s deputies Monday identified the victim of a Saturday drowning as two-year old Ely Lee.

The Silver Lake Fire Department and Sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of a drowning about 7:15 p.m. Saturday evening at 5949 NW 17th Street.

When they arrived, the learned a two year old boy, who lived at the home, had been found floating in a swimming pool.

The child had been pulled from the pool and family members were administering CPR.

The child later died at a Topeka hospital.

The cause of the drowning is still being investigated.

A memorial fund has been set up at the Topeka Postal Credit Union in the name of Elyjah Wayne. The credit union is located at 400 S. Kansas Ave, Suite B in Topeka.
