One person was flown to a Kansas City hospital after being shot by a Lawrence police officer near the University of Kansas campus early Sunday morning.
Lawrence police say they were called to investigate reports of gunshots at Harvard road and Kasold drive. Police say when the officers arrived someone with a gun confronted them. One of the officers fired his own weapon, hitting that person. Lawrence police has asked for assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s office to investigate. The officers involved have been placed under paid administrative leave.
The names of the officers involved and the victim’s name have not been released. No officers were injured.
