Kansas board starts education commissioner search

state school board

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – The Kansas State Board of Education has begun the search for a successor to state Education Commissioner Diane DeBacker.

Board members held a work session Wednesday with consultants from McPherson & Jacobson, a firm based in Omaha, Nebraska, that specializes in conducting national searches for boards of education. The board members discussed input they received from meetings with focus groups in their districts.

DeBacker resigned in early May to become director general of the Abu Dhabi Education Council in the United Arab Emirates.
