Marshall’s Civic Band of Topeka to perform in Gage Park

Marshall’s Civic Band will end the Independence Day Holiday Weekend on Sunday, July 6th with an evening concert at Gage Park in the Amphitheater. A program of American traditional, patriotic, popular, and movie music will fill the evening. The concert will begin at 7 PM and will feature a solo on the trumpet by Dr. Steve Patterson and Topeka Acappella Unlimited, a chapter of Sweet Adelines here in Topeka.

Music to be featured includes “Semper Fidelis”, “Rolling Thunder”, “Klaxon”, “American Patrol”, and “Stars and Stripes Forever” marches. Popular tunes – “Feelings” with an Alto Sax Solo, “So Nice”(Summer Samba), “June is Busting Out All Over”,  and “In the Good Old Summer Time”. Music from movies includes “The Jazz Singer” and “Robin Hood, the Prince of Thieves”.  “The American Boy” will be the Trumpet feature by Dr. Patterson.

Topeka Acappella Unlimited will perform “God Bless America” and a “Salute to the Armed Forces” as part of their portion of the program.

Marshall’s Civic Band, founded in 1884, is conducted by Clifford Manning on this concert. Benches are provided or bring you lawn chairs or blankets. Families are welcome and the program will include our  traditional Children’s March. Admission is free.
