TOPEKA – A pair of Special Olympics athletes from Topeka return home with several national awards.
Bekah Henderson and Trevor Hallman each received a handful of medals from the U.S. Special Olympics Games in New Jersey.
“It’s really awesome,” Bekah who competed in the bowling competition said. “Me and Trevor, we were so blessed to be chosen to go to the USA Games this year. I’m really proud of us no matter what.”
Trevor won a gold medal in aquatics as he took first place the 25 yard breastroke event. They were proud to represent Kansas at the national level.
“I broke my personal records on different strokes,” Trevor said. “Thank you Kansas Special Olympics and we’d like to thank you for choosing us to be one of your friends.”
