Future of the Docking State Office Building.

The building was built in 1954, but in two years it will be demolished. The State was faced with a decision to maintain the structure or tear it down. In the end, money was the determining factor in deciding to tear it down. This will require the relocation of 1,200 employees that currently work in the Docking Building.

This week, the agency charged with finding new space for everyone has begun looking at proposals to lease office space to the remaining agencies. They are still looking over proposals, but one administrator says they hope to have all employees stay in downtown Topeka.
