Washburn Tech. gives recycled ride to WU employee

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) A long-time Mabee Library employee has a new ride.

Washburn Tech’s Recycled Ride program presented Ginger Webber with her new car in front of the library on the Washburn University campus.

Ginger’s new-to-her car is a black 2010 Ford Focus with less than 29,000 miles. She’s been working at the library for 14 years.

Webber was nominated for the program by a long-time friend and co-worker at Mabee Library.

“When things happen like this it’s just a heartfelt feeling you know that you can never get over and i so much appreciate it so much.”

Ginger’s previous car was unreliable and became an added hardship when her son suffered a brain-stem stroke last October. Her son passed away in May in Gardner, Kansas and on that day her car didn’t start.

So far, Washburn Tech has donated nine cars to Topeka families in need.
