Teacher sinks pair of holes-in-one

TOPEKA, Kan. – A once in a lifetime accomplishment is almost starting to become ordinary for one area teacher.

Kelly Muxlow, a language arts teacher at Seaman High School, made a pair of holes-in-one in the same round. It came at a course in Arkansas on her birthday.

Believe it or not, they weren’t Kelly’s first aces.

“The first three came in three different states,” Muxlow said. “I really wanted my 4th one to be in Arkansas, so i was happy. Three holes later, I think it was my brother-in-law who said, ‘oh, you messed up your record now. Now you have 5 in 4 different states.”

When Kelly was 20 years old she hit her first hole-in-one at Lake Shawnee Golf Course.

“It hit right of the green,” Muxlow said. “Then it bounced left, then it just trickled up there and went in. Yeah, that was pretty amazing.”

Golf Digest says the odds of making two holes-in-one in the same round is 1 in 67 million.

Muxlow started the girls golf team at Seaman H.S. and coached the Lady Vikings for seven years.

Her advice for those avid pin seekers:

“Not be so focused on the pin, and maybe pay attention to where you should miss your shot more,” Muxlow said. “If the pin is all the way on the right, don’t aim over there, try to hit the green.”
