Zach Haney, who graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in June was named the winner of the 2014 Dan Danner leadership Award by the National Federation of Independent Business’s “Young entrepreneur Foundation”.

Along with a nice plaque, Haney receives a $15,000 scholarship for creating “Kansas Carnival Supply, LLC which supplies clients with interactive party equipment and equipment.

Haney started his business in 2012 with a free carnival for a local homeless shelter, and it’s been one of the fastest growing event rental companies in northeast Kansas.

The scholarship was established to help create awareness by young people of the role of private enterprise in the nation’s economy.

Haney says he’ll use the money to help pay tuition at Washburn University in Topeka.
