There’s a hearing delay for a Topeka man who admitted last year to killing a Seaman High School graduate.
Dustin Leftwich had pleaded guilty to the May 2012 death of Brenna Morgart.
He admitted to hitting 18-year-old Morgart with his car, attempting to rape her, hitting her with a tire iron and then leaving her to drown in a creek.
Then earlier this year he filed a motion seeking permission to withdraw his plea and go to trial.
He claims his attorney coerced him into pleading guilty to avoid a death sentence.
In January of 2013, Leftwich was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
