Junction City police apprehend homeade explosive

Early Saturday morning, the Junction City Police Department received information that a subject was making homemade explosives in his residence. Based on the information received from witnesses, a search warrant was applied for and granted for the search of the residence at 1701 Belair Dr., Junction City.

At  12:34 a.m., members of the Junction City Police Department executed the search warrant, without incident or injury to anyone involved. A search of the residence reveled a homemade explosive device which was collected and disposed of by members of the Riley County Police Department Bomb Squad.

Twenty-six-year-old Andrew R. Vancleave, of Junction City was arrested on the charge of Criminal use of an explosive. Mr. Vancleave was booked in to the Geary County Detention Center, where he was held on no bond pending his first appearance in the District Court of Geary County.
