TOPEKA (KSNT) – A state association is launching a statewide push to educate Kansans on the need to protect highway funding.

The Kansas Contractors Association is taking the lead in the project. It involves a new advertising and education campaign aimed at state and federal officials about the economic and safety benefits of good roads.

The new effort is a called Save Kansas Roads. The vice-president of the KCA said state officials have taken half a billion dollars out of the state highway fund over the last several years to cover revenue shortfalls.

“Our goal is to get as many people to go to a website to learn more about why protecting highway funding is important to them,” says Bob Totten. Once there we also hope they will take time to write their leaders and tell them the importance of funding T-Works; with their help we can save Kansas roads.”
