Rory McIlroy captures PGA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)- Rory McIlroy is now two-for-two in the last pair of majors of the PGA Tour season.

The Northern Ireland superstar, fresh off his triumph at the British Open, was five under par for his final 12 holes en route to a final round 3-under 68 to win the 96th PGA Championship at 16 under par. McIroy began his back nine on Sunday with an eagle-3 on the 10th hole to shoot a 32 on the back nine. It’s McIlroy’s second PGA title. He now owns four major titles.

Fan favorite Phil Mickleson finished second with a 5-under 66 to wind up 15 under par. Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson tied for third, two shots behind.
