Drowning at Pillsbury Crossing isn’t keeping swimmers away

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A drowning last weekend isn’t keeping swimmers away from Pillsbury Crossing Wildlife Area.

Twenty one-year-old Anthony Strange Jr. drowned August 2nd.

Despite last weekend’s drowning, this weekend there were people at the creek swimming. Some of them didn’t even know about last weekend’s death but those that did say they called the fire department for safety tips.

“They said just to get in the water, feel around make sure that nothing would be under the water where we’d be jumping in and to stay as a pack and watch each other,” said Pam Currie.

There are no park rangers at the creek to warn swimmers.

A funeral was held for Strange on Friday.
