Riley County police to participate in emergency response exercise

Manhattan Fire Department Recruits get 'real life' training

On August 19, 2014, the Riley County Police Department along with members of Riley County Emergency Management, Riley County EMS, and the Manhattan Fire Department (for a full list of participants contact the Riley County Emergency Management Office), will be participating in a full scale emergency response exercise.

Emergency crews will be placed into a scenario at approximately 6:00 PM at a location near the Manhattan Airport as a simulated plane crash and response will take place well into the evening.

Media partners who wish to participate in this scenario are asked to contact the Public Information Officer for the Riley County Police Department as well as attend a safety briefing located at the Manhattan Municipal Airport Administration Office (the old terminal, south of the airport fire station on S. Airport Road). This safety briefing will begin at 5:00 PM.

This exercise should not delay local traffic and the Riley County Police Department would like to remind residents in the area of K-18 and Scenic Drive, that this is only a scenario exercise and not an active disaster scene.
