MERIDEN (KSNT) – Jefferson West football expects another return trip to the postseason in 2014.
The Tigers finished 7-3 last year, and lost a narrow contest in the first round of the playoffs against KC-Piper.
There’s a new slate of district opponents that await Jeff West, but at least the Tigers are familiar with them.
All three of those teams; Holton, Royal Valley, and Perry-Lecompton, are from the Big 7 League.
“Our guys know that the Big 7 is probably as good a football league as there is so there’s no question they know what it’s going to take,” said Jeff West head coach Steve Johnson. “They know the preparation week in and week out that you’re going to face a solid team.”
“We’ve been working hard all summer, said senior linebacker and tight end Jacob Kahoer. “We’re excited we have some returning lineman and returning starters on defense. We’re excited about this year, and ready to go.”
“I think we’re a pretty young team this year,” said senior quarterback Jacob Dickey. We’re getting those young sophomores and juniors up and they’re going to play and make a big impact at the varsity level this year for us. They’re learning their place, figuring out our offense and what Jeff West football is all about.”
Jeff West begins its 2014 season at Riverside on September 5.
